What To Expect
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR INITIAL CONSULT
Once you have decided to schedule your initial consult at Alive and Well Health, you will fill out the New Patient Signup form under the Getting Started menu tab and we will then grant you access to set up your patient portal account. You will need to create a login and set up your account by adding patient demographics, adding credit card information, signing consent forms, and completing family, social, and medical history questionnaires. We cannot order any lab testing or schedule your initial consult until the patient portal setup is completed. Once your patient portal setup is completed, we will order your lab testing, and once the lab results are reported to our office, we will schedule your initial consult. The entire process described here can take as little as three weeks towards scheduling your initial consult, depending on how quickly you complete the patient portal setup.
Dr. Phillips spends a great deal of time reviewing lab results and history forms before she ever sees her patients. During your initial consult, Dr. Phillips will review your symptoms, medical history, and lab results in depth with you. Prescriptions and supplement recommendations will be discussed and nutrition and exercise will be addressed. You will have time to ask questions as well. Seventy-five minutes is reserved for your initial consult. Dr. Phillips is punctual, so be ready for your appointment before the scheduled time. You may need help to focus on only one or two areas of health, or you may need help in several areas. Dr. Phillips will work with you to establish an initial treatment plan tailored specifically for you. Ongoing adjustments to your treatment plan and other issues that may arise will be addressed in follow-up consults. In addition, a copy of your visit summary, treatment plan, lab results, and invoice from your consultation with Dr. Phillips will be made available to you in your patient portal for your records and insurance self-submission of claims.
PRESCRIPTIONS AND SUPPLEMENTS
Prescriptions, many of which must be custom made or stocked by a compounding pharmacy, are likely to be among Dr. Phillips' recommendations. We’ve taken the extra step and established an excellent relationship with some of the best compounding pharmacies, and you can be assured that these pharmacies adhere to the highest purification and regulation standards. After your appointment, your pharmacy order will be sent via a secured, online ordering system. The pharmacy will fill your order and send the pharmacy products directly to you.
Dr. Phillips will order enough of your prescriptions to last until your next regularly scheduled consult. Dr. Phillips does NOT refill prescriptions between consults. In order to remain on your treatment regimen, it is imperative that you keep your regularly scheduled appointments.
Dr. Phillips also utilizes select pharmaceutical grade supplements as part of her recommendations. Pharmaceutical or professional grade supplements are only available under the supervision of a health care provider. Dr. Phillips recommends Fullscript (fullscript.com) for all of your supplement purchases.
Fullscript is an online dispensary of professional grade supplements. Their website ordering system is easy to use with excellent customer service and competitive pricing. They offer all the brands you know or need, and they provide only fresh, high quality products. Dr. Phillips will prepare your treatment plan and Fullscript will send you an e-mail with a link to your own dispensary web page under Dr. Phillips' account.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR FOLLOW-UP CONSULTS
After your initial consultation with Dr. Phillips is completed, you will be scheduled for a follow up consultation 6 weeks later in order to evaluate your initial response to the treatment plan, answer questions, and for making any adjustments to prescriptions and supplements as needed. Dr. Phillips has found that by meeting at this point in her patients’ course of treatment, she is better able to provide a more rapid and personalized improvement in her patient’s symptoms. There is usually no lab retesting for this 6-week consult. You will also be scheduled for a follow-up consult 4 months after your initial consult. Focused laboratory studies to track your progress will be performed for this and all subsequent consults. From there, consults will be scheduled every four months to monitor your symptoms and progress. The four-month follow-up scheduling intervals will continue until the time your hormones become balanced and Dr. Phillips feels she is now "maintaining" your hormone levels and any other symptoms she has been following have become normalized or well controlled. It is at this time that Dr. Phillips will move your appointments out to six-month intervals. It is important to note that a patient's compliance with a treatment regimen will directly affect the chances of consultations moving out to the six-month scheduling intervals.
MUST MAINTAIN A RELATIONSHIP WITH A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN
Dr. Phillips will be happy to consult with, but not replace, other physicians or providers such as your internist, gynecologist, cardiologist, gastroenterologist, oncologist or other specialty care provider. She always encourages you to speak with and consider the advice of your other providers, including conventional or mainstream physicians as an alternative.
Dr. Phillips requires that you maintain a relationship with an outside primary care physician (PCP) to provide emergency and urgent care services. Dr. Phillips does not admit patients to the hospital or treat hospitalized patients. If you encounter a medical emergency and are not able to obtain care from your primary care physician, you will need to call 911 or report to the nearest hospital emergency department as appropriate.
